  • Juwan Staten

    CEO

    Juwan founded the Hard to Guard Skills Academy in 2021 after graduating with his Master’s degree in Sports Management from West Virginia University.

    Juwan is currently a 7th year professional, having played with the Golden State Warriors, Delaware 87ers (NBA G-League) in the US, along with overseas play in France, Finland, Belgium, Estonia, and Hungary.

    In his freshman year at the University of Dayton, Juwan started 30 games averaging 9 points per game and 5.4 assist per game, leading the NCAA for freshman and earning All-Conference honors. After transferring to WVU, Staten was named to the All-Big 12 Conference First Team in 2014 and 2015, finishing his career with 1,260 points and 432 assists (sixth all-time.) In 2015, he led the Mountaineers to the NCAA Sweet 16 and was named to the Lute Olson All-America Team.

    A NCAA 1st Team All-American selection by the Senior CLASS Award, Staten played 94 games at WVU, making 84 starts at point guard. The 2015 Big 12 Conference Preseason Player of the Year was a finalist for numerous college basketball awards as a senior.\

    Juwan has worked with notable players such as Deuce McBride (NBA), Jevon Carter (NBA), Tarik Phillip (Italy), Teyvon Myers (Hungary), Kaitlyn Ammons (DePaul), Sean McNeil (WVU), Taz Sherman (WVU), Jalen Bridges (WVU), and KK Deans (WVU).
